is and accomplished guitarist, composer and educator based in Kansas City. Though being steeped in the rich history of Kansas City jazz for nearly a decade, Alex's modern approach to the music has made him a standout guitarist within the Kansas City jazz scene, performing locally with artists such as Adam Larson, Matt Otto, Marcus Lewis, Brian Scarborough, and internationally with the Classical Beat Orchestra with artists in Germany in France under the direction of Pierre Bertrand. As a composer and arranger, Alex has recently collaborated with Mike Moreno, Camila Meza, Bobby Watson, Anat Cohen, and Renee Rosnes. Alex performs his music regularly across the Kansas City Metro.
The Alex Frank Quartet's debut album, "Reclaim", was independently released in November 2023 and features Matt Villinger (piano), Jeff Harshbarger (bass), and John Kizilarmut (drums). As a sideman you can hear Alex on Matt Otto's most recent release, "Umbra" (Origin Records).
Alex holds a master's degree from the University of Kansas (2021) where he currently teaches Jazz Guitar, Jazz Combos/Big Band, Improvisation, and beginner Group Guitar. Alex also holds a remote teaching position at Western Colorado University.
